I’ve done 3 or 4 briskets on my Kamado Joe classic 2 but tonight I’ll start my first on the Stampede! I’ll preface with brisket is my least favorite smoked meat. I’ve had Aaron Franklin, John Lewis, and several of my own but I typically would prefer pork and chicken over brisket. However it’s finally getting chilly out and I want some chili so I’ll smoke the brisket and make a brisket meal for the wife and myself and sacrifice the rest for my chili. I’m interested to see how the rec tec compares to the joe as far as moisture and smoke profile. Here are a few pics

Looks great! So what's your thoughts in comparison to the two smokers?
Honestly, you can't really compare them. They both make great bbq but where the Rec Tec shines to me is the convenience when it comes to smoking meat. Just having the ability to turn it on from my app and have it ready by the time the meat is ready to go on, put the temp probes in, and going to bed.

With the Kamado Joe you still want to bring the temp up slowly to make sure you don't overshoot temp, I use a temp controller so then you get that all setup, and put the meat in. Other variables are if you're running low on charcoal and you have to use the small pieces that don't burn as long or as clean you get a different flavor than larger pieces.

At the end of the day the finished product taste very similar but it's more of a matter of how involved do you want to be.

Now The KJ I have a Pizza attachment that turns the grill into a brick oven and holds itself at 650, I have a roterissie attachment, soap stone for searing and smash burgers, cast iron for other things, a nice lazer cut stainless steel grate for fish and veggies, and then the old standard grates for just regular grilling. It's the swiss army knife of grills. I really enjoy having football on tv, smoking something on the RecTec for supper and Grilling something for lunch on the KJ.

Todd, could you post up the pizza attachment for the KJ please? Sure Mike won't mind.

I have a kk so i get whst you are talking about both cookers have there own advantages

Kj is a nice piece of equipment

Great looking cook

I use a joetisserie on my BGE Its great and as far as pizza goes these kamados are always going to be superior to a pellet grill. However I just ordered a 590 and am not going to miss fine tuning to get low and slow temps on my egg. I will probably continue to use my egg for bbq chicken, steaks and burgers.
