I have had two issues with my 590. My meat probes are not accurate. My main issue is pellets don’t get to auger when pellets are low. I can’t set it and forget it. As a positive note, when my smoker was damaged during a storm, they sent me a new lid at no charge.
Kim,
By left side I mean left side of grill as you face it. Instead of the drip pan tilted toward the bucket, it was tilted to left side of grill. Yes I always double up on foil and never go over the drip pan too much. I did not call Rec Tec about this issue since I felt it was my fault.
I have experienced the same issue, but it was my fault. I did not place the drip plan in the proper position. The left side was slightly higher the the right side. Once I recognized my error, I have not had the issue again.
I purchased SS folding shelf brackets on Amazon for $20. My plan is to drill holes on front plate of Stampede and attach brackets. For the shelf I will use a hard wood like oak.
Any thoughts or concerns?
I am new to pellet smoking and my method may get old fast, but I spray my grates first with Pam or something similar. It seems to help clean them easier with Brillo pad. I then rinse with water and air dry. Depending on what I am smoking, I do this after each smoke.
I asked Rec Tec about a pellet bin clean out and they said any trap door would allow moisture to get in and affect pellets. They suggest adding new flavor pellets on top of old ones. I think the shop vac will work.
