I'd love to BTT this and get any feed back from real life users...specifically on the impact on the smoke flavor profile and reliability.
I am coming from a WSM, and am IN LOVE w/ the ease and usability, but the flavor is a sacrifice right now. So I am gonna do something to increase smoke...
Awhile back while researching the Heavy D diffuser by Smoke Daddy, I saw a product that was essentially an aftermarket chimney baffle. Later on, I saw it mentioned on here at least once, but for the life of me I can't find it now! 😡
It is a triangular piece of metal that attaches to the inside...
No issues at all. The temp of dry wood won't really play a factor(from my own experience). I've started below 32* often and below zero a couple times. Now if your pellets were wet they would "freeze" but you would have other issues. Enjoy!
Yeah don't worry about the weather. My 700 maintains temp(400*) in sub zero temps (literally) and if you are concerned about it, then get a welding blanket. Don't let the weather stop you...Enjoy!
I'll try it and let ya know! Great idea for wings....not sure why I haven't thought of that. 👍🏼👍🏼 I have done whole chickens and had no issues. Skin finishes perfectly.
Congrats and enjoy!
Whats the reasoning behind putting the butt in a pan? I would worry that sitting in all that fat would run the crust and make it soggy...maybe not?
Good catch! The plastic body and microprocessors prob won’t fair well. @chadinsc i like the barkeepers friend idea. I totally can see it polishing over time.
Anyone convert the stock RT-700 halogen light over to an LED bulb? seems like an easy swap and I think these would work. I know these lights get a lot of flack on here, 10 or so cooks in and I use mine all the time. I clean it w/ a little simple green and a microfiber and it seems to come clean...
Like the look of this.....Does it fit w/ the light as is? Call me a nerd but I like my light. And it cleans up in 15 seconds w/ a little simple green on a microfiber.
