    Recteq App Failure

Any recommendations? I have an Inkbird with Bluetooth, but the Bluetooth signal doesn’t reach very far.

    Recteq App Failure

The past two thanksgivings, I had issues with the Recteq app. Last year, the app failed to give me correct temp probe readings. This year, the app’s temp probe alerts would not work. Very frustrating when you’re trying to cook for a large gathering. I emailed customer support and was told this...

    Power Supply Backup

Honda makes excellent generators. I needed something larger than what they currently offer. I ended up buying this dual fuel beast. I’ve already used it three times. It powers my entire 4k+ sq ft house with two A/C’s, as well as my workshop where I have three deep freezers. Since the photo was...

    Recteq Shipping Times

Website said in stock, which the Recteq rep confirmed. Just got an email stating the shipping label was finally created. It won’t be here by this weekend as I had originally hoped, but at least it’s on its way.

    Recteq Shipping Times

Has anyone ordered any accessories from Recteq recently? I ordered a drip tray liner five days ago and they haven’t even printed a shipping label yet. Recteq tells me that it “may” ship today. I don’t expect them to be as quick as Amazon, but 5+ days is pretty sad. My entire grill shipped out...

RT-1250 Ready to Give Up on my RT-150

That’s what I’ve been doing. But allow me to pose this question. Let’s say you find a recipe that you want to try. If the directions tell you to cook at 200° for six hours, how would you know how high to increase the temp for that particular cook? it’s always a guessing game for me, and it’s...

RT-1250 Ready to Give Up on my RT-150

My Traeger did not have a smart controller.

RT-1250 Ready to Give Up on my RT-150

Yes, the actual temp has been verified several times with a different temp probe. I understand your thought process regarding the Traeger, but here’s my real world experience. When I followed a recipe on my Traeger, it would cook at the specified temp and finish close to the time listed in the...

RT-1250 Ready to Give Up on my RT-150

My previous pellet grill was a Traeger Eastwood 22”. I used it for three years. The Traeger was ok, but it never provided enough smoke for my liking. I ended up buying a Recteq RT-1250 last year. I initially loved the RT-1250. It provided the smoke I was looking for, but I quickly ran into...

    RT-1250 What Happened Here?

I’ll check the igniter, thanks. Traeger says to leave the lid open during startup, but Recteq says leave it closed. I’ve often wondered about that. Do you leave your’s open? I vacuum out the fire pot every 3-4 cooks. Should I be doing it before every cook?

    RT-1250 What Happened Here?

I’ve had my Recteq RT-1250 for three years now. I had something happen today that I’ve never experienced before. I fired up my grill via the Recteq app and set it at 250F. I noticed it was taking much longer than usual to reach temp, so I went outside to check on it. There was a massive amount...

    Pre-Heating my Smoker

I’ve tried it both ways and I honestly can’t tell any difference in taste. I wasn’t sure if it was a good idea or not, hence my question. I don’t want to ruin any meat, so I’ll go back to the tried and true. Thanks guys.

    Pre-Heating my Smoker

Everything I’ve read and heard, says that meat catches the most smoke when the meat is cold. Every pellet grill I’ve owned, emits a ton of smoke as it’s pre-heating. I hate wasting that smoke, so I’ve started placing my meat on my smoker before firing it up. This seems to introduce more smoke...

    Recteq’s Cold Weather Cooking Tip

I agree. My Traeger was the same way though, so it might be something that can’t be avoided.

    Recteq’s Cold Weather Cooking Tip

Well it is a little warmer here in East Texas…we got hit with this cold stuff too. The high yesterday was 23F, supposed to warm up 34F today. Smoking a Christmas turkey tomorrow, so I’m thankful for the warm up.

    Recteq’s Cold Weather Cooking Tip

So I as watching the latest Recteq YouTube video that just came out, offering cold weather cooking tips. One of the tips was to allow 1/8” - 1/4” of ash to build up at the bottom of the drum, to help insulate it. The is a new one for me. I almost always vacuum out the ash after a cook...

    RT-1250 Drip Tray

I emailed Recteq support and they admit there is no way to prevent this from happening. They recommended one of their Teflon drip tray liners. I did a forum search and folks seem to like ‘em. They are currently out of stock, but I’m gonna try one when they get more in.

    RT-1250 Drip Tray

I always line my smoker’s drip tray with 18” HD foil. I try and smooth out any wrinkles in the foil so that the grease can flow more smoothly towards the grease bucket. Despite my efforts, I almost always end up with grease getting underneath the foil. Am I expecting too much, or am I doing...

Stopped working for me after the last app update. I sent off an email yesterday to support, haven’t heard back yet due to the holiday weekend.

    RT-1250 Auger Motor Whine

As I said in my OP, the auger is now silent. It works fine, maybe it just needed breaking in…?
