Cooking for 2-4 most times. Sometimes I wish I went with the 590 but I like the option to transport my 340. I took this to my mom's in the back of a mid size suv and had my family packed for several days too. I cooked two small to medium size turkeys but it was cramped. If you don't plan to take...
I used my coffee grinder with some dried guajillo peppers. I added some light roast coffee beans to a batch of my guajillos and I really liked it on my steaks. Not too heavy on the coffee. I threw in a few pinches or garlic salt into the batch too.
Sorry, not so precise on the measurements. I...
In addition to what others said, I find the top handle handy for stairs and bumpy areas. As far as vehicle travel, when not in my truck, it still fits nicely in our mid size suv. Love my trailblazer!
I was annoyed by the cord catching wheels on my Trailblazer so I added a couple stainless heavy duty carabiner clips. Problem resolved. I may add a couple more for tools on the front. Happy to hear other ideas......
I also put in a little elbow grease for a quick polish and added some heat...
Enjoyed reading through this thread. I have a PBC, but some of the WSM apply regarding charcoal and wood compared to my RT-340. PBC runs hotter so I appreciated the heat to smoke discussion too. I do think I get different results from my cookers and I like the variety.
But the greatest...
Mine are in and up. Seems as if that decreases the risk of getting something like a beltloop, pocket, etc. caught on it, but I like to look facing out.
I enjoy a reverse sear on other thick cuts. If prime rib is a candidate for it then I will go that direction. I am a crust man. :) Speaking of crust, I read using a pan could be problematic because of the moisture. A reverse sear should counteract this. To pan or not to pan?
Doing my first prime rib. I read the Thermoworks information and it was helpful. Thank you for sharing. My question is about searing and taking on smoke. Is prime rib a candidate for reverse sear? Or do I sear after 90 minutes of smoke? Any thoughts are welcomed.
Congrats on your purchase! I am a new Trailblazer owner too. I look forward to doing some chicken to compare to my Pit Barrel Cooker and Weber Kettle with vortex. My RT-340 sure nailed it on Thanksgiving turkeys. Enjoy the new cooker and smoke on!
A tight fit in the Trailblazer, but here are the two fresh turkeys. I quasi-spatchcocked with thighs removed the front 14lb bird. The second was a 10lb bird kept whole. Both were brined. I placed them on a bed of leeks and parsnips.
Now warming in oven awaiting a short transport to my brothers...
Well I was tinkering with my Trailblazer getting it ready for the maiden voyage and my wife arrived home opening the garage door to my surprise. She just looked at me funny and said "I saw the box when it was delivered." So I said " love you" and blew her a kiss and she said "uh huh" and that...
