I have always found when doing thick cuts of beef or pork that it will take what ever time it needs. I did 38lbs of pork (4 butts) a BGE that took 22 hours. I have had both go short or long. When it gets through the stall, keep checking. Haven't done a pork butt on the bull yet.
I keep a dedicated extension cord connected the power cord all the time. I just wrap both around the tray when done. Looks like crap, but it doesn't bother me. I also dont store the bull where I use it. So I just wrap an roll....
Seeing the post about CS is disturbing. I have had the Bull for almost 2 years and every interaction with CS has been stellar. Even when I called after I did them auger mod and told them I did the mod, they did not hesitate to send me a new controller with updated firmware.
I wonder what has...
As someone who has done the upgrade on an older 700, I think the "serious issue" is with older units with an old firmware. My original controller would not adjust down below 3. With that controller, I could not maintain low temps. The serious issue would be on the other end. The bull would go...
Update:
I installed the 3 RPM auger back in. I also installed the new controller board RT sent me. I set the feed rate to 2 as per the support team. I was able to hold 250 for over 2 hours. I shut is down and let it cool. I then set it to 350 and hit temp and about 15 min. Later in the weekend I...
I got mine for xmas in 2018. It has a cotter pin. Make sure you cover the other side if you are pushing it out with force. It likes to fly away. Ask me how I know. The first time I tried to get that pin out was a PIA. I would leave the nut and bolt. I almost had to switch if I didn't find the...
I did the mod several weeks ago. The grill would heat up lighting fast. However, I could not maintain a low temp. Went to adjust the the feed rate. I have an older controller that wont go below 30. The grill would also go easily over 600 degrees.
Just for gits and shiggles, I called tech...
Both sealed. It was not me that posted that. But I asked CS about lowering the speed of the fan and they said there is no adjustment.
Thanks for your help
To add to this. I did a brisket today on the Bull. There was noticeable ash on the foil when I took if off the grill. The brisket was foiled for about 3 maybe 4 hours. I also noticed ash is starting to accumulate in the smoke box.
I don't want to beat a dead horse, but is this normal?
I have been using BGE's for over 10 years. So I am not new to this. I am trying to figure if the large amounts of ash everywhere is normal for pellet poopers. When I said my friends was ash free, I meant there was no build up on the side, grates, drip pan like mine. There was ash piled in the...
We both use RecTec and Traeger. Mostly Rectec. I got 400lbs of RT with the grill in Dec. I used one bag of cherry pellets from Traeger.
Been down that road with CS. I even traded a bag of his for one of mine. Same results.
