    Modified Stampede and Cover

Thanks man. You mind sharing the pics and parts list for the install? I’ve got the bigger auger motor in mine and just sealed it with the gasket. It definitely won’t get as hot with the gasket (it’ll get over 600 without it), but I’m tired of cleaning the grill so I’m looking for something to...

    Modified Stampede and Cover

That looks awesome! Why did you go with the sear box vs the sidekick with a grill? How hot does the sear station get? I’m looking to do one of the two like you and others have done.

Stampede With Camp Chef Sidekick Mod

How is the grill working out? Do you have the grill or searbox? I’m torn between the two since I want something that gets over 900F, but if the grill does then I might do thaT

    CYA screen is gone

Honestly, no clue? i just moved into my house and have a few lying around so I figured it couldn’t hurt, especially in Charleston, SC. I had some condensation under the hopper a few times and that was the impetus for the idea. It seems to be doing a good job. It’s under a covered patio, but...

    CYA screen is gone

There are a few screws thats you remove to remove the hopper grate. No need to cut it. I have mine in there loose, (not screwed in), so it catches random stuff that might be in the pellet bag (check Facebook) and so I can keep a large desiccant bag in there to collect moisture.

RT-700 won't get hot, looking for answers

Hey Cash, did you ever get this figured out?

    Problems reaching Temp

Hey @TxTechSmoker, they did the same thing for me and sent me the larger auger motor. The grill gets so much hotter now, but I can’t seem to keep lower temps. I’ve tried feed rates from 5-25 with now luck. It’ll overshoot, creep down a few degrees passed the set point and then fire back up. Are...

Cool, thanks for that. I’ll try your method instead.

    A little help

Update: They’re sending me a new RTD probe because I was also having issues with over/undershooting. As for the rust, he called it surface oxidation and said it can happen in humid states like SC. Ultimately their customer service came through and they said not to worry, that they’d make it...

    A little help

@Wslayer thanks for that! I’ve used that method each time, but the meat probes seem to deviate at temps >100 degrees. I’m wondering if the boiling water calibration might do better? As for the RTD, it’s strange that any adjustment under 10% doesn’t seem to change the temps at all. I’m still not...

    A little help

Hi all, I've got a 590 a little less than a month old and have a couple of issues I'm trying to figure out on. The first is the RTD probe calibration. I used 3 thermometers (the 2 meat thermometers and an old school oven thermometer) to measure the temp at the grate. The built in meat...

New controller and auger coming... I guess?

Interesting...I've had a hell of a time with this grill. Honestly, I started with the 340 and that one was miswired, the temp ports for the probes were shorted out, and grease would trip out of the sides. I ended up going with the 590 and they assured me it'd get as hot as quickly as the 340...

New controller and auger coming... I guess?

How is the new auger motor running for you now? I have a 590 and they sent me the BFG motor. I’m still only getting about 550 max, but I’m having issues with it under and overshooting temps.

    Build quality 590 vs 340

Here's hoping, but now that the alarms are working I should be good. Only wanted higher temps to use with the sear grates and now I've got that, so I'm definitely happy.

About to buy one...do you regret not getting the RT-700

I can’t compare the pros and cons of the 700, just the 340 to 590. What I can tell you is that as you go larger it’ll take more time to heat up, in practice it won’t be that long, maybe an extra few minutes here or there at lower temps, but higher temps are another issue. The 590 is massive...

    Build quality 590 vs 340

So that's a great question. Right now it's 73 and overcast in SC and I've tried it at 0.5-1.5, which all seem to be able to hold 180 perfectly. I imagine that I'll be able to do about 1.0 on a really hot day and still be able to maintain it, but my grill is also covered. It's doing a great job...

    Build quality 590 vs 340

Yeah, I was having some weird issues with both over and undershooting. On top of that I wanted to make sure I could get to 600ish on that grill like I did on the 340. The newer motor got me to 550 on a 70 degree windy day, so I'm thinking I'll get there when it's warmer out. Downside is the...

    Build quality 590 vs 340

Not bad. They sent me the auger motor for the BFG and I installed that. I was getting weird temp fluctuations and wasn’t hitting the highs I wanted. This seems to have solved most of it. I’m thinking about the competition cart as well. I’m loving the grill outside of having to install three...

    Two Weird Issues

For sure, I’m still in contact with one of the managers from a lemon 340. im just trying to troubleshoot before I reach back out to them. Im trying different pellets to rule that out, but same issues.
