    Anyone Use Lawry's Seasoned Salt?

The Texas Monthly barbecue editor just reported that many Texas BBQ joints secretly use Lawry's Seasoned Salt, even those that profess to use only salt and pepper. Has anyone here used it, and if so what are you results?

    Smoky Bear Mountain Pellets

I have been using Lumber Jack pellets in my RT-700 because they come so highly recommended. I like a strong smoky flavor, and their mesquite and hickory did a pretty good job. Recently I was smoking a brisket and noticed I was running low of pellets in the hopper. I thought I had another bag...

    Resting/Refrigerating/Freezing Cooked Meat

All too often I smoke meat for a dinner and do not get it finished until shortly before the meal. That does not leave much time to rest it as is recommended by most pitmasters. It never seems as smoky or flavorful as I would like. I have always been reluctant to cook ahead and refrigerate...

    Bull Remebering Pellet Type

I use several different types of pellets in my 700. If there is a substantial time between cooks, I forget what type of pellets are in the hopper. Has anyone come up with a clever way of keeping track of the types of pellets in the hopper?

    Low Sodium Rub

When your doctor prescribes a low sodium diet, that puts a crimp in your barbecue plans. Most rubs are laden with salt. Some say that commercial rubs are about 50% salt. After all salt is the least expensive ingredient in a rub. That is what happened to me when I had coronary bypass surgery...

    Bull Keeping Drip Pan Clean

Cleaning the drip pan is a bear. So I am motivated to keep drippings off it. A single layer of foil is not enough to prevent leakage and sticking. I have found that two layers of foil keeps it very clean.

    Home Depot Bucket Vac

I bought a Home Depot bucket vac to clean my Bull and to change pellets. However, the hose is too short to reach when the bucket is on the floor. I'll have to drag a chair over to support it when using it. Has anyone encountered this problem and solved it?

    Other Luling BBQ Sauce

This sauce is a copy of the one served at City Market BBQ in Luling, Texas, one of the classic Texas BBQ joints. Very simple to make. I like it because it is heavy on the mustard. Luling Barbecue Sauce 1- 8 oz can tomato sauce 5 Tablespoon brown sugar ¼ Cup prepared yellow mustard 3...

    Wi Fi Setup Tips

One of the requirement for setting up the Rec Teq wi fi is that the app be connected on 2.4 MHz. Wi fi has two frequency bands, 2.4 and 5 MHz. The 5 MHz band has greater capacity and is better for most wi fi uses. However, it has limited range. The 2.4 MHz band has lower capacity, but it has...

    Kafta on the Bull

I recently cooked these ground beef kafta kababs, a Middle Eastern dish, on my new Bull. The meat is seasoned with Sadaf kafta seasoning from Amazon. The kebabs were formed with an Easy Kabab Maker, also from Amazon. I am still getting used to pellet grill cooking, and I overcooked them a bit...

    Corn on the Cob

I have been cooking corn on the cob for years on charcoal and gas grills. I like to cook it until it chars slightly. The only time I have tried corn on the Bull I did not get a char, and we may be forced to fire up the gas grill for corn. Any ideas on how to get a char on corn on the cobb on a...

Bull Which Interior Shelf for RecTeq grill?

I have the Bull and am considering an interior shelf. Does the large one make the main grate hard to access? Is the small shelf a good compromise? Are there other advantages or disadvantages of each?

    Beer Can Chicken Myth?

O Wise Ones, what say ye? Does a can of beer make any difference in the result? I am reading that it is a myth and may actually slow the cooking. They say the chicken is effectively a coozie that insulates the beer can and prevents it from heating to a boil, keeping the inside from cooking properly.

Krud Kutter v. Weber Exterior Grill Cleaner

I cleaned my grill today and used Krud Kutter, which was recommended in a You Tube video on cleaning the Bull. It was marginal, and I gave up on it. On a whim I decided to try the Weber cleaner that I had bought for a charcoal grill and never used. As soon as I sprayed it on, the difference...

    Anyone Done Kofta?

We lived in the Detroit area for 10 years, and there are many Middle Easter restaurants in the area. I grew to like Middle Eastern food, and one dish that I particularly like is kofta, which is seasoned ground beef, chicken or mutton cooked as a kebab. I am thinking of trying some on the Bull...

Bull What to Do with Surplus Bull Stock Cart

I replaced the original Bull cart with the competition cart. It makes no sense to store the original cart, but I'd rather not take it to the metal salvage yard. I know that you can make a cooking cart from it, but I do not need one. Are there other things that can be done with the leftover...
