We are spending a few days in Athens GA and seeing friends in Cumming GA. It is a long trip from California. Our friends are definitely arm twisting us to move their direction in a few years.

Any way to skip leaderboard signup in app?

I can feel a Simpsons episode coming. Remember when Bart would call the bar asking for fake people? Time to register Seymour Butz on the leader board.

Well, I had my first one yesterday

First off, glad you are OK. I have never experienced one myself after lots of cooks on both my RT's. What you have described for your start up plan feels like a reasonable response to what happened. My guess is you may not see another one. I never used to open the lid on start up until I saw...

    Show us what you're cooking...

Picked up some beef back ribs at Costco. Cooked just shy of 8 hours at 225. Injected with beef base and Boars Night White Lightening. Rubbed with RT Heffer Dust. I dug through 20 packs to find the best one. It was worth the digging. Most packages were two smaller racks. This was the largest...

    recteq grills uncovered

For any new owners, the post above is worth reading. I am one of the folks who sealed the lid with good results. I would never have thought about start up with the lid open until hearing from others about their experiences.

Neither do I! Darn, we are stuck with boring, dry pellets.

    Best pellets for brisket?

    Best pellets for brisket?

I have used LJ 100% hickory for brisket and been pleased. Their pecan is a blend of 40% pecan and 60% oak.

    Need lid for grease bucket

Yep, as Charles said, disposable glass jar is the answer. Grab an empty pasta sauce, pickle, pepper or other random one. It is the easiest way to solve the problem.

    Combustion Inc failure!

Glad to hear you are both enjoying the Meater2. I have a feeling we will give that one a try.

    Combustion Inc failure!

Well @Greg Jones and @Jim6820, it looks like I will be joining the CI return club. My connectivity had never been stellar. Now the new update has bricked one of the probes. I think it is time to call it done and move on. I have requested my return label.

    4 Hour Rule

Yuck. I admit to trying stupid things. Raw poultry is not one of them.

    Combustion Inc failure!

Darn Jim sorry to hear that. I have not run that update yet. Thanks for the advice.
