Stampede Anyone found GrillGrates to completely replace the existing grates?

Chaotic, did you ever do this? If so, any problems? I'm interested in doing the same thing on my RT-700. I talked to someone at RecTec a couple of weeks ago, and the only problem he mentioned was that it might affect the reading of the smoker temp probe. However, the other potential problems...

    Beef Reverse Seared Steak

Anyone know if a Blackstone or Camp Chef griddle gets hot enough for a good sear?

    Ben's Heffer Dust

I really want to give this a try, but shipping cost is $9.99 for a $10.98 bottle of the rub. Can this be purchased anyplace besides Recteq?

    Recteq app question

Is there any way to upload the temperature charts to a PC?

    Signals vs. Fireboard 2

One thing I like about the Fireboard is that you can monitor/graph the probe temps on a PC. I can do this with my aging Stoker II hardware and StokerLog software, and I really like that capability. Not sure if the Signal can do that.

    Preheating grill for long smoke

Yep, I think we were ready :) Thanks to everyone for the feedback. Sort of what I expected; some preheat and some don't. I never preheated the electric smoker that I'd been using for 15+ years and those cooks turned out OK. As for Starkvegas, I'm not really sure if it was hopping Saturday...

    Preheating grill for long smoke

Other than extending the cook time, is there any other downside to NOT preheating the smoker before putting the meat on? Reason I ask is because it's easier to position large cuts of meat and insert temp probes on a cold grill rather than a hot one.

    For those who sift/filter pellets...

What size mesh screen do you use? I used a 1/4" mesh screen to do both RecTec and Lumber Jack pellets, but it lets too much fall through in my opinion. Thinking about trying a 1/8" mesh, but thought I'd ask what others are doing first.

Got my Bull in Tuesday afternoon, much faster than I anticipated, and got it assembled. Rain moved in Wednesday and it's still raining on Thursday. Sheer agony waiting for the weather to clear so I can play with the new toy.

Bull Newby confused about the need for a sear kit

Actually I'm a pre-newby since I just ordered my RT-700 last Friday:giggle: I've been reading this and other forums, trying to get up to speed on pellet smoking/grilling, but I'm not grasping why a sear kit is desirable when cooking a steak or other meats where you want a sear. I do understand...

    Bull Large Interior Shelf Dimensions

I talked to the RecTec folks recently and they said the shelf was out of stock and would reappear on the RT-700 accessories webpage when they got more in. Why it just doesn't show "Out of Stock" like other items, I don't know.

Purchased yesterday. Hope to take delivery in a week or so. My name is Mike. I've been using a SmokinTex 1500 electric smoker since 2006. I've smoked a lot of ribs, butts, and briskets over the years, and the results were usually good, but not great. I'm hoping to take the next step up in...
