Lately I've read quite a few post about searing plates, heat diverters etc.
For my Bull I simply added a very heavy duty set of stainless grates (3/8" thick or 9mm) & a little over 22lbs. per set .
They came from a worn out Frigidaire gas grill I decided not to repair anymore because the burners...
Yesterday was a super busy cleaning day on the Bull after it went haywire & overloaded the firebox with pellets, smoke & heavy smut.
It smoldered & bellowed heavy smoke so thick I could barely see the grill under my carport to turn it off. Of course when I did hit the OFF button the fan kept...
OK, first off this shouldn't be taken as a slam on the Bull & as I know every grill/smoker has it's strengths & weaknesses as does every cooking method, recipe etc.
This is more about me & my learning process with the Bull.
I decided to do the maiden run with 2 Boston Butts to see how the...
Anyone here use a rust preventative on your smokers?
I got my Bull in yesterday, put it together, did the 1 hour burn-in & all went well.
This morning I wiped ALL of the entire metal surfaces with a light coat of Frog Lube CLP in hopes of preventing RUST in the future.
I fired the grill up &...
Anyone care to share their most go to Rub Recipes ?
I'm asking about your rubs that are good on pork, beef & poultry, the most common cooks you make.
One I'm currently using:
1/2 cup smoked spanish paprika
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tbsp. white or black pepper (fresh ground pepper corn is best)
1...
Anyone here use the Pit Boss Competition Blend in their Rec Teq's & if so what do you think about their performance, especially with pork & beef ?
Some of the big box stores around here have the 40lbs. bags for $14.99 & I've used their Oak before with plenty good results but never the...
Interested in your favorite grill grate scraper, I personally avoid wire types because the risk is pretty high for food contamination. I normally use a wooden paddle style on my wood fire side box smokers but not really a good choice for a pellet grill.
Can I expect having problems with either the RT-700 or RT-590 reaching high temps in typical colder weather winter months?
I'm not asking about low/slow smoking temps, more like searing temps.
Will a cover be mandatory for temps in the teens thru low 40's ?
Have decided to buy the 700 & from the looks of it will have to play the long wait game for delivery, possibly into mid February ... bummer !
Called them yesterday & was told they consistently keep a small stock in the warehouse for immediate purchase of walk-in's but ordering online is...
OK, bear with here.
Been sitting here scanning thru different topics for the last hour or so, problems, fixes, customer service responses, modifications .... all good stuff :)
Not picking on ANY manufacturer here or anywhere else as I think they're ALL guilty to a certain degree.
What I'd like...
First off, Hello to everyone.
I'm no BBQ Pitmaster nor pretend to be ...just love to cook BBQ for family & friends.
I have a grandson that could probably eat a whole hog if we let him, in other words, smoked food never goes to waste around here :)
My main reason for joining is to read post made...
