Seems like they are running out of ways to make money and maybe they need some. I don't think the coolers sell as well as they expected, and people can only have so many grills.

The point of the initial burn in is to burn off excess oils from the manufacturing process. The result of those oils burning is a hot grill. I would give it another go and see if the temps stabilize before you start making tweaks.
