    Stampede Smoke Tube Placement

Used the 1-foot tube and the 6-inch tube all over my 680 and never had a problem with temp. control. But that said I have found that the smoke mode on the 680 does better than the tubes without the work. I believe the rule is the first 30 min.s are where the smoke does it's thing. But I'm more...

Thermoworks has a new "super fast" thermometer.

Oh, I'd say about $30/sec difference, not worth it in my book. I would not buy the new one if the old one is working. My daddy the colonel says " Buy it new and wear it out, take care of what you have or do without."

    Bull Cover

The cover sold by Rectec is rated as water repellant, not waterproof. I am on my second cover in 5 years for my 680 and I use it strictly to reduce sun damage. The water trapped under the cover has not effected my pellets or my electronics in any way in 5 years. My 680 is out on and open deck...

Grilling pellets - Only a few choices

If you have Amazon prime it's a no-brainer. A 40# bag of perfect pellets (other choices also) cost $37.50 free delivery. I don't waste gas and time gong into town for such. I order and the next day the bag is delivered. But don't order more than one at a time the charges for 2 or more are out of...

Bull Already rusting after only 3 weeks :-(

Be of good cheer, I've had my 680 for over 5 years and yes there is rust but nothing to harm my cooks. Go check your car, rust is there also. The grill cover does not keep it dry the rain soaks through anyway. I use my cover to keep the sun fade off. My 680 is on my uncovered deck now for over 5...

    Ash Vacuum deal

I know I'll catch the devil for this, does anyone besides me use a dust deputy on a 5gal. bucket that connects to a regular vacuum? I have a bucket head that draws the ash into the Dust Deputy then exhaust it out. The filter, after 2 years of ash cleaning is still usable and I have only cleaned...

    Competition Blend for everything?

I use the 'perfect blend' pellets that I buy on Amazon. If you have prime and I do you can order the 40# bag and have it sent to your door without shipping cost! Caution: ordering more than one bag at the same time will cost you $70 shipping! So I order one bag then start a new order for the...

    Bull Leaving the RT-700 outside.

I’ve had my 680 on my deck with no roof for 5 years or so using the grill cover. The cover is not water proof and I have rust forming on the left side and on the edges of the lid. The over all condition is still very good. Water does not pose a problem with the pellets at all. I leave them in...

    RT-680 Stuck on extreme smoke

A little late but today I have the same problem. Had this once before and it just went away. I wonder if the control Bd being in direct sunlight on an 80 deg day would cause erratic behavior.

Stampede 4 weeks with no grill

Replacing a part does not guarantee the new part is good. Just a SWAG but I wonder if the wiring harness has good connections. Reading that don’t make sense often come from intermittent loose connections. Take it from an ole field engineer with 40 years dealing with things like you have. Weak...

Bull New controller and auger coming... I guess?

Cooking 5 years on 680 with warped heat deflector no real problem. My grease pan is warped to but again great BBQ every time. I use a 3” paint scraper to clean as I hate foiling with a passion. You do what you feel is ness are but my family loves my cooking so if it ain’t broke don’t fixit is my...

Painting the lid on your Rec Tec

Had a sign shop for 15 yrs. we removed vinyl by heating and pulling. Then we used snot remover to take care of the adhesive. (Snott remover is an orange based cleaner. Goop is a good brand.

Bull MOD RT700 Camp Chef Sear

I got rid of my Weber gas grill and added a Summit charcoal grill. High price but wow I had forgotten how much better grilling with charcoal is over gas. I have a 680 and love it for ribs but let’s face it. A ribeye taste so much better seared on coals. Plus I find the Summit is a big green egg...

Bull Mod for the 40 pound pellet hopper: Split for 2 types of pellets?

I also use a bucket vac.for ashes. I put a dust deputy inline and my filter stays clean. Bit bulky but keeps my 680 and the area clean.

Rubs No Salt - BBQ Rub Great on Ribs and Chicken & Fish

You are reading my thoughts! My mix is very close to yours. No cinnamon or NM chili and I add honey powder in place of turbinado. I hate the commercial ribs are so salty.

Beef Smoked Brisket injected with Kosmos Smoke House Reserve Blend

I was thinking about the salty comment. Could it be the Lawry’s? Lawry’s is salt, pepper, garlic. I don’t use it any more it’s just to salty for us. Many others like it so it’s “beauty’s in the eye of the beholder” I guess. With ur salt pepper and garlic I think the Lawry’s is overkill maybe?
