I'm not surprised anymore. I think RecTec's quality control (not to be confused with material quality) has always left something to be desired, which is probably why they cover it up by curating reviews.
So the app updated automatically and it worked for me on Saturday, though it was annoying as all heck. Way too many alerts. Like the boy that cried wolf. This is lazy coding, just notifying on everything they could think of.
Then last night, it started out working but did not alert me when...
With the current controller, yes it is just "LO".
On an older controller there was an Xtreme smoke mode that worked at up to 250 degrees. I think that's what confuses people sometimes.
I use LO on most cooks for 30-60 minutes before going up to cooking temp.
I shoot for 115, then pull and tent with foil. Then I wait for at least 400 degrees. 1 minute on, turn, 1 minute, flip, 1 minute, turn, 1 more minute or 130 degrees.
WiFi was not a necessity when I bought mine, but I consider it one now. It keeps me from being confined to the house on long cooks. And that means I can cook more often.
Absolutely. RecTec was one of the pioneers with their wifi control, but they have now fallen behind. Not fixing the alerts for nearly a year has really damaged their customer service reputation in my eyes.
I would guess that those timers would have to be stored on the controller itself, and...
The exteriors of Eggs don't get nearly as hot.
I mean Rec Tec says right in the instructions to keep it away from combustibles. It's not like the danger is overblown, cooking fires account for about half of all residential fires. If you want to ignore the fact that wood is combustible...
Though I'd love the functionality, personally, I'm not a fan of taking a metal grill capable of reaching nearly 600 degrees and putting it in a wood cart.
A couple more things I remembered, there is no cold weather blanket for the 590, I could have really used that, not excited about rigging up something. And as others mentioned the vent covers are kludgy and should be included.
I don't necessarily regret the 590 overall, it's been fine, but in...
I got the 590. I don't really regret that missing 6 inches of width, but I do miss not having a decent shelf solution. On the 590 you need to use the small shelf that's sized for the 340, and if you use more than one they have to be positioned front to back, which means the legs get in your...
Doesn't need to be a competition cart. Taller splayed legs would go a long ways. And personally, I'd prefer the larger plastic wheels you see on Traegers. The scooter ones work well on pavement, not so well on grass.
There's only a couple things it could be. Either the pellets, which you seem to have ruled out, or something blowing it around, like the fan or wind. Your first pics look excessive. The after cleanup one doesn't look overly bad IMO, depending on how long the two cooks were. I don't pay...
While I agree that RecTec needs to update their controller, these router manufacturers know damn well there are devices that have this problem. That's the main reason I went with an Amplifi router instead of Google Nest. And ISP provided solutions are nearly always inferior and limited...
I've used a couple bags of the char hickory. I'm not a wood connoisseur by any means, but I like it. The charcoal is subtle but it is there. When I'm done with my last bag of 100% hickory I think the char hickory will be my go-to for awhile. Costs me a bit more because my local store only...
