And here I thought that was normal… That happened probably every other cook. I always felt like my RT-1250 was on the verge of either causing a fire or breaking. It just never worked seamlessly for me.
Well I ended up selling my RT-1250 and using the money to buy a Kamado Joe Big Joe 3. Definitely much more of a hassle than using a pellet grill, but holds temps just as good and the food comes out much better in my opinion. I still want another pellet grill someday, when I feel like being lazy.
I agree that starting a grill away from your house is probably a bad idea. Recteq should probably exclude that as a feature on their advertisements. Also, they explicitly advised me to start my grill up with the lid closed.
The app not working does bother me, but wasn't enough to turn me away from buying my RT-1250. I bought my recteq because of it's "build quality" and reliability. Now I don't even think my grill is safe because it randomly wants to explode and recteq doesn't think anything is wrong with my grill. (n)
I'm getting pretty frustrated with recteq, 99% sure I'm just going to sell my RT-1250 now. I can't even use the remote start ability in fear of my grill exploding. Recteq really needs to address this issue.
This isn't really yourt fault, this issue has been happening with a lot of RT-1250 owners, myself included with a clean firepot. This seems like a pretty serious issue that recteq seems to be ignoring and putting their customers in danger.
I have a 36" ProSeries that I bought on clearance from Walmart. The grill itself feels pretty flimsy/cheap compared to every other grill I own, but the flat top works well. I do question the longevity and build quality of Blackstone griddles, but since no food actually makes direct contact with...
I'm pretty OCD about stuff like this and I am very careful with the foil on the drip pan. It does seem kind of odd that such a small thing could affect the grill though. That's kind of what I mean by it being finicky. I haven't cooked on it since they suggested lowering the auger speed, so I'll...
I clean out all the ash everytime I change the foil too. It doesn't seem like my grill is meant to handle high heat, that's usually when I run into issues.
It is level, I have no idea how grease is even escaping to the left when there is a drip tray leading grease to the right.
I have only used recteq pellets so far and I clean the ash out of my firepot every 2-3 cooks.
So far, every response I've gotten from RT always seems to be that my...
I've had it since December, so I'm assuming it's too late for a return. I casually listed my Recteq for sale and actually have multiple people that are interested in buying it for pretty close to what I paid for it.
I keep seeing a lot of people with this problem and it definitely seems like something that could fatally injure someone or easily burn down a house. I'm not sure why they aren't more alarmed by it. Honestly, I'm considering selling my 1250 and switching over to Grilla or just go all out on a...
So I've owned my RT-1250 for about 2 months now and approximately 20 cooks with it. I'm starting to run into a lot more issues with it recently.
For example, yesterday I was making wings, smoked at 225 for 20 minutes and cranked it to 425 to finish it off. After about 10 minutes, temperature...
I went from owning no grill to owning a Recteq RT-1250, Kamado Joe Classic, 36" Blackstone ProSeries, and a Weber Genesis S-335 all within a 2 month timespan. I guess that's what happens when you join BBQ Forums/Facebook/Reddit groups. Also, keep them all if you have the space!
