Happy with the functionality of my new 590 but was just a little disappointed in the sturdiness of the stock cart/caster and especially the height. I'm 6'3" and the grates were at my upper thigh, front shelf even lower. I've seen the wheel mod, but wanted the added sturdiness of the comp cart. The comp cart adds about 1", but for going to the trouble of switching it out I wanted more height. I picked up some PVC exterior trim (basically a sturdy plastic board, so it won't degrade), 1" thick x 5.5" wide and sliced off some square blocks. Ideally could have ordered some even thicker material like HDPE in 2" blocks, but was impatient and wanted to stick to what I could find in the home store. Drilled the riser blocks to match the hole pattern. Spray painted black to match. Longer 10mm bolts to accommodate the extra height. $28 for the PVC board (8' leftover, only found 10' lengths to buy) and $25 for bolts (stainless, and no bulk pack in store for this size). The risers could be doubled up, but I wasn't sure about stability with too many layers and really long bolts. Probably would be fine since the caster plate is heavy duty. With comp cart and risers, the grates now sit about waist level which just feels better. The casters are tight and sturdily attached.
