Lava lock tape location

New to this forum so my search skills may be lacking, but couldn't find an answer....

Does the lava lock affix to the lid or around the cavity opening? Probably doesn't matter which way it's affixed, but maybe someone has some operating experience why one would be preferred over the other. I hate having to do things twice, lol.

From my perspective, it is harder to get the tape properly aligned on the barrel; when placed on the lid lip, it is automatically “aligned.” And, if you ever need to clean the barrel, having tape on it would just complicate the process. YMMV

That make sense Jim, thanks for the feedback. I saw a non recteq video on where to install the tape and he installed on the barrel. Glad i asked.
