Hello all! Thanks to everyone who offered up opinions in helping me decide on which Rec Tec to purchase. I'm happy to announce I am in the "waiting" stage to get my new Bull! Hopefully it will ship out Monday. I was reading through the manual and saw a bit on maintenance and cleaning;
For a superior cleaning and shine, clean your grill’s outside surfaces (when completely cooled) and then use automotive wax, per the directions.
I'm also into cars and have a number of different waxes on hand. Has anyone used a wax or better yet a ceramic coating on stainless of the Bull or the powder coated lid?

@SmokeShow I haven't tried using any kind of wax on my grill and really haven't found any need for it. A simple stainless steel cleaner works very well and easy to keep it looking great.

I assumed as much. Just thinking about it from a car enthusiasts point of view. You can grab any bottle of $5 spray wax from an auto parts store to protect your cars paint or you can do it properly with may many more steps and different chemicals/application methods.

I use a stainless steel cleaner, then spray on auto wax I bought at Walmart. The stainless is fine, but I like the shine from the wax. I wouldn’t get crazy buffing it down with exotic wax combos.

This tread is right up my alley ?.. I’m the guy that kills himself trying to keep his things looking like they did when they were new... I guess they call it OCD.. ? So... for my Bull it’s been no different...When the Bull was new and before any cooks, I installed a 3/4 hi temp stick on felt type gasket around the Bulls main door and the side smokers door to keep the smoke in the grill and not oozing out staining my outside stainless steal .. Oh, and it’s always covered.... ?Next I only cook on a commercial heavy duty cookie sheet with a raised mesh insert...? That helps keep the grease from dripping all over the place.. Next, I have placed foil on top of my grease shield and the inside bottom of cookie sheet for easy clean ups ... I’ve learned to clean the sear grates hot ,right after my cook with the REC-TEC brush and water... Once in a while I’ll take all the stainless grates and the sear grates off the cold grill and give them a once over with 409 and a pad .. then hit them with the garden hose...For the inside because of my precautions, there’s not much left to do but shop vac the bottom of the tank every once in a while and reinstall the parts .. This has helped in keeping me and my OCD in check without to much of my time being taken up.. Sooo now I’ve got more time to waste.... washing cars, motorcycles , and other stupid stuff?.. You guys don’t know how lucky you are without this crazy disease ?... Really the only few upsides to this behavior is your mentality at peace, and when ever you sell a used item, house, car, motorcycle BBQ grill ect... it sells fast and for a premium price. So Good cooking to ya all, and Best Regards Elb

i clean the outside of food drips and such and wipe the dust off...its a grill.

inside, wood scrape the grates, change the foil on drip pan and vac the ash out every few cooks depending on how long they were.

I did buy a bucket head vac for only cleaning the Bull. My more expensive shop vac was getting real dirty and fill filters with ash and the wand was nasty. now I can leave the bucket head all dirty without worry. And the shop vac is safe to use in the house again.

Thank You SO MUCH, BAUMER. You are speaking my language. Getting my 780 on Thursday and will get the hi-temp felt earlier that morning before first cook!
