    Wood chips in the hopper

Think I will try a mix in smoke tube and see if I like that until a braver soul than I can run the mix a few times with no issues to report.

Problems with finding Delivery of my RecTeq 1250

It happens occasionally for a variety of reasons. As a driver there is not a worse feeling with the customer looking on. Early in my career it was a pallet with 40/ 5 gallon pails of paint that the customer was needing bad and already 2 days late.....what a mess! Ahh yes good times.

    Select Brisket

I was cooking it for a neighbor who wanted it the next day. Walmart and Super One will occasionally have choice grade mixed in the pile and at select price but of course that could not be found when I needed it. My self I wait until I run across one of those or Sams has the prime on sale and I...

    Select Brisket

I am tired of cooking select and having the flat come out dry as dust every other time. (Prime and choice are hard to come by here...and select ain't exactly cheap these days) What is a sure fie method of avoiding this issue? Separating and cooking separately as the two different muscles that...

    RT-1250 Grilling/Searing on 1250 (700+ advertised temps)

Great smoker, I wont use for high heat grilling for the fact that it is a good way to warp your drip pan and heat deflector.

    RT 700 vs RT 1250

I have the 700 for a couple of years now. BBQ temps are no issue at all. I use mine as a smoker only. Grilling temps I could not be any help to you. In my humble opinion it is best used as a smoker.

Problems with finding Delivery of my RecTeq 1250

The supply chain across the board is overwhelmed right now no matter the LTL company that handles the shipment. I am retired from the business but have friends at several LTL entities and they all have same story of trailers setting in the yard for days before being broke and put out for...

    RT-1250 Estes delivered ... Not!

I will take the time to enlighten some of you on LTL common carrier shipments. I worked in the industry for 30 plus years. They should contact you to set up a delivery window in advance so you can be there to sign for shipment and help if needed to push a heavy pallet up the driveway depending...

Bull 700 vs Weber 22” Smokey Mountain

No slander detected, and hope i don't sound defensive. Just saying I was a doubter at first and now I am more than happy. I received 5 forty pound bags of the Rec Tec ultimate blend with the bundle I selected and where I think they are not bad so to speak the LumberJack 100% Hickory put out a...

Bull 700 vs Weber 22” Smokey Mountain

Can I ask what type of pellets you use? I also come from being a WSM guy for years and a month or so ago bought a RT700. I had a lot of doubt about smoke profile going in as far as thinking the 700 would disappoint compared to my WSM's. From much reading before hand I had decided the...

    Bull Smoker box or not?

Mine came with the bundle I ordered, otherwise I would not have paid full price for it. That being said it does give you a bit more capacity and if you are interested in cold smoking or having a warmer box why not?

    Rec Tec 590 or 700?

If price is not an issue go for the 700. For those times when you need more capacity you will have it. As far as fuel goes I have had four or five cooks now and still am on my first twenty pound bag of lumberjack with a couple hours worth left in hopper. The longest cook I have had was 6 1/2...

Bull Setting up to use sear plates?

So when using sear plates you just set them on right side on top of grates that are in place? No removing heat deflector or drip pan? Maybe when researching other cookers I had seen something about pulling one or the other to prevent warping.....not sure why this step is in my head.

    Are you kidding me?

I have not used sear plates yet but could you not flip the plates to the flat side for more contact with meat and a little more even char?

    Normal Delivery Timeframe

I would like to add some comments about what you should expect when getting a freight delivery, I have worked for various freight companies for 39 years. We are not human forklifts nor are we expected to be by those who pass out checks on pay day. If you have a level drive way and your house...

Bull Taking the BULL by the horns!

Yes I did contact them and they offered store credit or replacement and I took replacement. I do have to send damaged unit back, was hoping to avoid that but oh well. Had thoughts of donating it or selling really reasonably as it would still perform it's designed function if someone within...

Bull Taking the BULL by the horns!

You are going to love it. I had concerns about the 700 putting out enough smoke after seeing a Treager timberline in action a few months ago, (smoke was intermitent at best) after my first cook today I don't know what I was worried about. Smoke was evident from low setting all the way up to...

Bull Taking the BULL by the horns!

Update. I picked up my RT 700 yesterday got it home and assembled it, a bit of a chore since I did it alone. Good news is my lid fits perfect and no smoke leakage at edges of door, may not have a reason to apply the lavalock heat gasket as planned. We will see, might do it anyway. Bad news...
