I moved mine a touch proud on my RT700. It significantly improved startup and I dont get a giant billow of smoke anymore from too many pellets in the pot.
I was told they upgraded to cast iron along with the new auger motor in order to get to higher heat faster. They told me it had nothing to do with issues. Take that with a grain of salt as it could just be marketing spin but if true then it has nothing to do with issues.
This happened to me once. I emptied my hopper and there was a ton of dust. I vacuumed really well and now I sift my pellets really quick through a strainer to remove dust. No issue since.
I have used mine about 4 times on my RT700 and will continue to do so. I keep the lid closed unless I am stirring the food so its minimal heat loss. If you plan on using the griddle a lot get a Blackstone but for occasional use it ok.
That is a good deal but its too bad the RT700 grates are $132.00 at grill grates vs $109.00 at Recteq. Still cheaper at grillgrates with the 30% but I am greedy and want 30% off of $109.00 :)
Thanks everyone, I didn't get pulled pics because I did it at the wedding but it came out awesome. We also did 15 lb of potato salad from our garden. I'm really impressed with the reck tech. It was definitely the easiest cook I've done on a pork butt. Not quite as much smoked flavor as I'm used...
My baby brother is getting married today and asked me to do some pulled pork. First overnight cook on my bull so a little nervous but they are looking good. I got up once around 2am and rotated because the right side is a little hotter than the left. They were ready to wrap when I got up and...
I just saw a youtube post from Mad BBQ Scientist who basically said stay away from these.
I know that is easy to say when you are probably sponsored and get all of your pellets for free but I figured I would pass it on. He also said the best were knotty wood which many of us have had issues...
I had a 36" blackstone but ended up selling it. They are fantastic machines but living in the PNW I found that I didnt use it enough and it was constantly rusting.
Quick update, I vacuumed everything out and made sure it was clean. I made sure the pellets I put in weren't dusty. I then turned it on with the griddle and set it 400. When I was done cooking in stepped it down 50 degrees at a time until it hit 200 them shut it off. It went perfectly. Its a...
Thanks, I will but I also just got 200lbs of pellets..... Customer service thought there was a chance I got too much dust in the hopper which then got in the auger and could be causing the issues. I am going to clean everything out tonight, remove the auger and make sure the tube is clean...
mine came with all the new updates. It works great when cooking. When shutting down it has backburned the pellets into the auger each time? Last night I did a pork loin on low, after an hour the temp dropped as there were no pellets in the pot. The auger seemed to be blocked at the intake...
My RT700 is doing the same thing. It closes tight but but there is a good deal of play when opening the left side vs the right. Luckily I am left handed so I will just keep tongs in my left hand, open with my right and then no issue. :)
I have cooked twice now with mine using high heat. Both times I turned it off and let it go through shut down. Both times I smelled fresh pellets burning about 5 minutes later. After the second time I took the grill apart to check the ash level and fire pot. I noticed that the pellets in the...
