Bull Assembly Grommet & Wires

The grill setup is much easier than I thought until it gets to feeding the cables through the grommet. I have worked on this for over 45 minutes and my hands are absolutely numb and I cannot get the cables through or even close. I can get a screwdriver and needle nose pliers through (hoped to grab the cable and yank it through but the pliers won't open wide enough to grab the connector. I feel like I may harm the cable or draw blood if push harder. Any magic tricks here?

I removed the grommet, fed the wires through it, then put the grommet back in.

Yup. That’s what I did
