An experiment. I wanted to use the point for burnt ends and I wanted to see how they cooked side by side. I was able to pull the flat off before the point so that the point could continue to cook to temperature.
Would I do it again? Probably not. Just because it's easier to trim and cook one big piece vs 2 big pieces.
