Stampede Careful! filling pellet hopper

Filling my stampede 590 pellet hopper today, I rested the bag (40#) on the edge of the hopper to allow the bag to pour when the grill flipped flipped onto the hopper end.
No damage or injury occurred!
Heads up!

Yeah- the pellet hopper was empty so I could never have imagined that happening.

Hope I can prevent a brother from that situation.

Thanks @SmokingHokie ,But I believe I’ll just keep a spare bag of pellets on the bottom rack for a counterweight .

Definitely a design flaw in the leg stance.

Only if you have time to waste. They’ll just say it was your fault. Keeping a counterweight on the bottom shelf is a better idea IMHO.

This seems, odd. I have had my 590 for sometime now (years), and I cannot recall a single time when I placed a 20 or 40 lb bag of pellets right on top of the hopper itself, and had it flip at all. I dont have a compcart, or any other addon that would be counter weighting it either.
Glad you are ok though.

I’ve never owned a 590, but I agree with @Chief_USN_Ret - seems like something else might be broken or loose.

Maybe recteq has made some improvements over the original and now make a much lighter 590.
It's just as good as the old model, probably better even....

The hopper is designed to hold 20 pounds of pellets, so I recommend not laying 40 pounds on top of it.
