WelcomeThank you Charles, I’m ordering 10” brackets.
Nice mower. I have the same one... and now the same smoker too. Great minds?@vwtdi1955 here are some pics of my Stampede front shelf if they help give you an idea for what size brackets to use. Shelf is 32 x 11-1/8 x 1 inch with 10 inch brackets. With the shelf up the gap between the rear edge to the grill body is 7/8 inch. I lower the shelf real easy so the brackets don’t scratch the cart. The marks on my shelf are reflections. The grill cover fits good. Let me know if you need any more info.

I have the whole EGO lineup and made the change from the Black & Decker rechargeable gear I had used for over a decade once EGO came out with the self-propelled mower & snow blower. The rest of their stuff is just as good too. Fits in nicely with our EVs and we officially don't own anything that uses gas or oil which is a pretty good feeling that none of our money is going to Middle East or Russia to fund foreign interests. I digress.@Ostrichsak LOL on the great minds. Battery mowers have come a long ways. Self propelled, rear bag, and a head light. Battery last a long time too. Nice and lite for us older fellows like me with back issues. Got it several years ago after reading the reviews in Consumer Reports.
My shelf is Douglas Fir painted with Varathane Ultimate Sparurethane clear gloss from Home Depot. I got the shelf from a local lumber yard and they rounded three sides with a router, full bull nose profile. If I had to do it over again I would have used oak because I think it is prettier and stained it with something different. Another possible shelf material you could use it HDPE custom plastic cutting board. I almost used a red oak stair thread from Home Depot. And yes, the shelf would lay flat without the cart.

I've seen the plastic ones but I would want just black or something and all of what I saw at lower price points was crazy colors and what not. I think I like the look of wood (like yours) and it goes well with the stainless and black. I think I'm going to examine further just getting a stair tread from home depot. I need to find something that will hold up to the elements and I prefer not having to apply any stain or sealant if I can avoid it. It's cold in this area now and I'd rather have something I can install tomorrow and use rather than waiting until spring time when it's ideal to be finishing lumber.
Welcome and good luck to you.Looks very nice charlesrshell. Thanks for all the help and advice and yes, I will.
That's actually a pretty good idea. I was just going to buy a pine stair tread for $10 from Home Depot to get me through the winter months and then re-evaluate in the spring when the weather is warm and I've got more options for finishing something but composite decking board may be the best final solution. Now to see if I can get the size I want/need in a color that looks good...If I didn’t already have the stainless shelf, I might have used high quality composite dock decking board. It is extremely tough, weatherproof (we have it on our saltwater dock), variety of colors, never needs refinishing, no warping, etc. just make sure there is some air gap to the grill.
I am trying to find your post #21. I am liking the idea of a homebuilt shelf that is a bit wider than what the factory is offering.@vwtdi1955 I added one more pic of the right side. Have you seen this thread? Read my post #21 for more info about the bracket mounting bolts.
