I’m just stating what others have stated Recteq told them. It has been mentioned quite a few times on the FB group page.

I seriously doubt recteq purposely designed an ill fitting lid as a way to improve air flow

It all comes down to $$ recteq feels the grill will work fine without the lid gasket thus saving them $15 to $20 per grill X the amount of grills they sell = huge $$$$
