My temp probes seem to fall 10 degrees short of my other thermometers.
Is anyone in the know if there is an aftermarket probe that’s more accurate?
I did zero in ice water.

I have the probes that @Jim6820 linked to-excellent. But also know that the recteq controller can also be calibrated to the OEM probes. Works best when both probes are boy off by the (nearly) same temp, so that it doesn’t matter which port the probes are plugged into. A call to recteq HQ may also be in order, as they have been known to sent out replacements as a warranty item.

As a FYI, IMO probes are a disposable item. They wear out and will need replaced. Don’t be reluctant to spend the money to replace them, even if it is with OEM probes.

Great information @Greg Jones !
Both of the new are a degree apart.
I was using some older probes in lieu of opening up the new ones which arrived with my new 590.

Turns out the older ones were reading 9 degrees above .
So I guess you are probably on point with the probes being disposable.

I will still order up a backup as @Jim6820 recommended.
Thanks for all the support guys.

The "Elgin bbq" probes Jim posted I've been using basically since I got my RecTeq. I tried a few times to mess with the stock probes however was a waste (in my opinion) of my time. These work out of the box and work great.

Been so happy with my "Meater" that I have not yet tested or used my RT probes that came with the 1070. However, if needed, the RT probes can be adjusted with the control. Not sure how much change is allowed, but have used the adjustment with my probes on my original 590. (now owned and loved by the local fire department).

Contact RT and they'll send new ones. Also you can adjust your temp controller
