I made baby back and spare ribs together last night. Maybe cooked a touch longer than I wanted Lost track of time. Did Mexican street corn, slaw and baked beans. All good. I have an army of useless spray bottles. Work for a bit and then bite the dust. Anyone have one that really works and stays working? ??

I gave up on the spray bottles too like you said they don't last. I like to repurpose things and use empty wide mouth ketchup bottles now, the wide mouth makes it easy to load and the small hole in the cap controllers the spritz enough for me. What ever is left over goes in the refrigerator after the bottle gets labeled.

I like it. Going to give it a try. Do you find too much dispenses at a time? ??

With the thinner stuff you need to be careful as it can come out quickly but still very controllable. The stuff I generally use is on the thicker side and it's nice not having the bottle plug up.

On the spray bottle, I've used the Zep brand sprayers I found at Lowes. The Home Depot sprayers seem to give out quickly. Neither are sold as food safe. But I have doubts about any of the plastic sprayers being fully constructed of food safe materials. I've read the #2 recycle emblem HDPE milky translucent bottles are food safe, but the pump assembly materials are an unknown. The "pros" seem to use the small pump up garden sprayers. I've seen some advertised as food safe and sold by small retailers, including bbq pros and retailers. They appear to all be re-purposed garden sprayers.

My last cook, I just used a silicone sauce/basting brush. Sprayers are great for quickly basting, but are ultimately a PIA for cleaning and introduce the possibility of BPA in the food. I have some milky translucent squeeze "catsup" bottles with the small tip. They may be what I use next time.

Out of curiosity, what are you guys spritzing that the sprayer gets clogged? I don't always spritz but have sprayed plain apple juice without any problems.

I often put rubs in my baste, which is often based on a commercial broth/stock with a little vegetable oil added. The sprayers with the little screen/filter on the pickup seem to work without clogging.

I usually dissolve some of the rub in whatever liquid I am using. If I had to guess it’s not that it gets clogged but the gasket inside that causes the suction gives out our slips because of any oil used In The spray. ??

Spritzing is overrated in my opinion. Just extends the cook time opening the smoker all the time, and the extra moisture it has to get rid of again.

I've had several of these for a few months now. But I only spray apple juice with them. We use condiment squeeze bottles for thicker baste and those work well.

Who sells that sprayer? ??

You must wash them out after every use... also mine will not spray chunks...LOL Inject the big and juicy stuff...

I use the ZEP brand and have never had any issues!

I do mix some of my rub into the spray juice. Maybe sometimes it all doesn’t dissolve. I need a pressurized backpack sprayer. ???
