Worst case scenario . I'll be the one of the few owners of Rec Tec 590 that won't have access to the WiFi App, although I really liked it when did work.

Hey you win some & lose some, that's life.
Bummer I was sooo close to getting the extender to connect.
Thanks Guys for "ALL" help and replies.

Just curious, this thread is 7 pages now and has gone nowhere it seems. Have you thought about moving the grill? Seems this is influenced by you and not the grill, so i'm just curious Dan?

Hey I can't move the grill..That would have been too easy. It is influenced by my WiFi signal not being strong enough. That is why I tried the extender. I was sooo close to getting the extender to work.
Thanks Dan

So on the other side of that brick and mortar wall is the best place?

I know that for the initial set up I had to have the grill and the phone on 2.4. The Orbi tech temporary turned off the 5.0 until I got it working. Then turned 5.0 back on.

Yup after the grills initial connection to the 2.4 GHz you can connect and control it with any wifi band or over your phones network from anywhere. This is as long as your grill is seeing the original 2.4GHz connection at your home.

Dan..... You had it working.(without the extender) Therefore it works*
Can you expand on why you can't move it?
If that is the only electrical plug area, a quality extension cord will work to get it to another location.

sorry that is the best & only place for the grill place for the grill. My house is safe where it is.

see post 131 On my 1st smoke it worked for 10 hrs on an overnight cook. Did work for a few minutes after that.. I tested on Sat before a mother's day coko and it did work, come Sunday it was off and has been off since.

Ok, not up to changing locations due to preference. Heres the only two options left then Dan. Option # 1, move the grill. Option # 2 throw that PoS wifi extender away that you bought from a hardware store and buy a good mesh system. I'd personally go the cheaper way till it bothered me. And just for jokes, you said its in the best place......I'd beg to differ ?

mesh system?
Just google it Dan. gives you whole home wifi, same signal and strength regardless on where you at compared to some old cheap out dated router trying to put a signal out. This has been talked about here plenty of times.

My problem really is at my age which is 76 this tech stuff has passed me by.

go to best buy, regardless of age there are things a blind person can install. Plug and play

My wife has been looking at new more powerful routers, very few work with Verizon.
