Bull Burned paint on the firebox

Took the grease pan and heat deflector out today for the first time after assembling my new grill a week ago and doing 2 cooks plus the burn-in.

The one cook was for pizza where I had it on FULL and it went to 540F - assume that’s what did this.

Surprised to see so much burnt paint around the fire pot. Is this normal?

As I've said before I don't know why they even bother painting the firebox.
