Did a biscuit test earlier this week. The results were pretty good. I had 12 on the main grate, and 4 on the top. The directions on the biscuits said 350F for 12 - 16 min. They were cooked perfectly at 14 min. This grill does not appear to have any hot spots left to right, and the biscuits on top were done in the same amount of time. So, I think temps top to bottom are pretty good, as well as left to right. Pics attached.

Yeah I have not had any heat issues either. Did 100 wings between top and bottom and all were done at the same time. Biggest difference I saw was about 12 degrees between wings. I cook mine to 200 so 188 and 200 isn't that big of a deal. My old big box store smoker would have to be pulled off in shifts. The rectec works way better and much more even. I also noticed that the bottom of anything I would cook would be super dark on the big box brand. On the recteq it dosnt look any darker than the top. Definitely a win.

Any smoke flavor? I would think not @ 350 just wondering. They look tasty.

Surprisingly, there was some smoke flavor. Very light and subtle, but it was there. My kids noticed it as well.

I cooked hamburgers yesterday evening at 500°F+ and the flavor was different than on my gass grill. I wouldn't say it was smokey, but there was a light flavor of smoke. My family really liked it.

Hmm.. interesting. I was really thinking there would not be any hint. I'm very interested in what that adds or takes away from my taste. Might have to try this soon.

I thought the same thing. There was not a hint of smoke coming out of the stack that I could see. As I said, the flavor was subtle, but it was there. Same deal when I cooked burgers. No visible smoke, but they had subtle flavor that I liked.

The biscuits were good. Give it a try sometime. If nothing else it will show if you have any hot spots.

Edit: I looked back at my notes and my grill did overshoot temps a bit when I did the test. I had the lid up for a while arranging the biscuits and when I closed it, the temp shot up to 400°+. I opened the lid to let a some heat out. Then it settled down. No idea if this would affect flavor...
